Did Thalapathy Vijay cycle to voting booth to protest against petrol and diesel price hikes? His team clarifies

Thalapathy Vijay cycled his way to the poll station to cast his vote for Tamil Nadu Elections 2021 and it created a fan frenzy. It was almost a stampede like situation that to control it all, the police had to resort to lathi charge. Was it a wise decision on Vijay’s part? Well, the jury is divided. Vijay was seen cycling to his polling booth with large number of people following him on two wheelers. His actions had kicked up a speculation as to whether the actor was making a statement on high prices of petrol and diesel. However, his team released a statement to clarify the reason behind his actions. “The polling booth is in the street behind his house, and since it’s a narrow area, it would have been difficult to park his car there. This is why he opted to ride a bicycle instead, and there was no other motivation behind his actions,” read the statement. Several leading movie stars of the Tamil movie industry have cast their votes early in the morning. Actor Rajinikanth, star couple Ajit Kumar and Shalini, Surya, Karthi, Sivakumar and others performed their democratic duty silently.

Ajit Kumar and Shalini had reached their polling booth about 20 minutes before the start of polling to vote early in order to avoid the fan crowd. As a matter of fact, in the past polls, the star couple was seen standing in the queue to cast their vote.
