Anek: Wondering who’s the leading lady in Ayushmann Khurrana’s action thriller? Get ready for some major DISAPPOINTMENT [Exclusive]

Ever since the news of Anek started doing the rounds, it generated copious interest amongst all quarters, including industry circles, the media and audience alike. For starters, it marks the reunion of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful pair of leading man Ayushmann Khurrana and Director Anubhav Sinha, with both currently being on a hot streak. And secondly, it’s not only being touted as the biggest film in both their career, with word doing the rounds of the scale and budget being substantial, but it’s also supposed to be a departure from form both star and creator, given that the film is being peddled as a sleek action thriller, high on stunts and visuals (though Anubhav Sinha did do Dus early on in his career).

Another thing that has caught the interest of many is the alleged secrecy around the leading lady opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Anek, with not even so much as a couple of rumored names doing the rounds. Well… unable to control our own curiosity and in the bargain, looking to satiate that of our readers, too, we decided to get in touch with a well-placed industry source to get some scoop on who may be seen as the heroine of Anek. Now, while said source did not disappoint, it wasn’t entirely the kind of scoop we were looking for, and finally sheds some light on why the identity of the film’s lead actress has been such a closely guarded secret.

Our source has exclusive informed BollywoodLife that the Anubhav Sinha, in all probability, is not going to have any leading lady. While that more or less clears up the cloak and dagger around this aspect of the movie, it no doubt will come as major disappointment to most of Ayushmann Khurrana’s fan, who’re used to seeing him create sizzling chemistry with every actress he’s hitherto been paired with, be it Yami Gauram in his debut film, Vicky Donor, Bhumi Pednekar in Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Kriti Sanon in his turning point, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Bhumi and Yami again in Bala, Nushrratt Bharuccha in Dream Girl, or even with Tabu and Isha Talwar to an extent in AndhaDhun and Anubhav’s own Article 15.

That being said, given that this is Ayushmann Khurrana and Anubhav Sinha we’re talking about, we expect that we won’t miss the chemistry aspect much as long as they serve as a solid action thriller.

Talking about his character in the film and sporting a distinct look, Ayushmann recently said, “I have been fortunate to collaborate with filmmakers who encourage me to add my creative inputs to their vision of storytelling. The eyebrow slit I am sporting in Anek was an idea I discussed with Anubhav sir. Through my films, I would like to have a conversation with everyone about topics that are taboo, that people are not comfortable addressing despite it being important and are a little off-center. Team Kangana Ranaut’s next target is Ayushmann Khurrana whom they label as ‘chaploos outsider’, ‘mafia supporter’ and ‘mediocre’

The next target in the sights of Kangana Ranaut and her team is Ayushmann Khurrana, and the reason to attack him is the same as for what Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhasker were derided earlier. And the names he has been called, like ‘chaploos outsider’, ‘mafia supporter’ and ‘mediocre’, really don’t come as a shock any longer when it emanates from the Natioinal-Award winning actress and her team. Gajraj Rao on portraying Ayushmann Khurrana’s father at the age of 50: I have no objection to playing an older character

Gajraj Rao has been in the industry for a long time. However, when the actor portrayed the role of Ayushmann Khurrana’s father in Badhaai Ho, he was noticed more so than ever by the audience. He yet again shared the screen space yet again as the father-son duo in Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan. The actor was asked about playing a father to actors who are just 15-20 years younger than him. And his reply will win your heart. Also Read – Filmy Friday: Shakuntala Devi, Lootcase, Yaara, Raat Akeli Hai: Which movie you are planning to watch this weekend?

When Gajraj Rao was asked about playing father to a grownup like Ayushmann Khurrana in Badhaai Ho and Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan, the actor said, “I am 27 years younger than Amitabh Bachchan and 40 years younger than Clint Eastwood. Acting is a very amazing profession. I am not a politician but I play a corrupt politician in Lootcase. I am not a police inspector but I played Inspector Dhaniram in Talvar. I am not a detective but played one in Black Friday. I played a CBI inspector in Dil Se. Age of a character is not important for me. Ben Kingsley must have been around 40-50 when he played Gandhi. I have no objection to playing an older character.” Also Read – Lootcase trailer: Kunal Kemmu’s hide and seek money game with Vijay Raaz, Gajraj Rao and Ranvir Shorey promises to take you on a hilarious ride

When asked about getting his claim to fame finally after 25 years in the industry. He had another sweet response for the same. “Not at all, one must keep working hard. I was getting appreciation but from a small segment of writers, filmmakers and critics. My work must have reached the larger section of the society but I came into the radar of the audience with my recent films. I am also very proud of my work in the last 25 years,” he said. Meanwhile, on the work front, Gajraj Rao will be next seen in Lootcase starring Kunal Kemmu, Rasika Duggal, Vijay Raaz and Ranvir Shorey to name a few. It will be releasing on the OTT platform. The announcement of which had been turned into a controversy. It had so happened that neither of the casts from the film had been invited for the announcement and both Vidyut and Kunal had tweeted out their reactions to the same. Reacting to the incident, the actor said, “I am not sure about what was the plan but it would have been good if they had called someone. Even then it wouldn’t matter because if you or your film lack talent, the audience will reject you anyway. The biggest validation is given by the audience. I have done films like Talvar and Black Friday and wasn’t even invited for the promotions, but the audience and critics have showered me with a lot of love.”

Tahira Kashyap on directing husband Ayushmann Khurrana: ‘I need to earn a position where I deserve to direct him’

Just like Ayushmann Khurrana, wifey Tahira Kashyap has impressed us with her talent through her creativity. Her short film, Toffee and Neena Gupta starrer Pinni, which was part of Zindagi InShort received appreciation from the audience. While a feature film is on the cards for the writer-director, Tahira might not work with husband Ayushmann Khurrana as she feels he is quite senior and she needs to earn a position to direct his husband and versatile actor. — Shraddha (@ShraddhaKapoor) May 12, 2020

Every year, International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12, the birth anniversary of British nurse Florence Nightingale, who was known as the founder of modern nursing. In January 1974, May 12 was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. The theme for this year is “Nursing the World to Health”. This year is the 200th birth anniversary of Nightingale.

WHO’s site read, “Historically, as well as today, nurses are at the forefront of fighting epidemics and pandemics – providing high quality and respectful treatment and care. They are often the first and sometimes the only health professional that people see and the quality of their initial assessment, care and treatment is vital. Nurses account for more than half of all the world’s health workers, yet there is an urgent shortage of nurses worldwide with 5.9 million more nurses still needed, especially in low- and middle-income countries.”

It also emphasised the importance of nurses. “The Covid-19 pandemic is a stark reminder of the vital role nurses play. Without nurses and other health workers, we will not win the battle against outbreaks, we will not achieve the Sustainable Development Goals or universal health coverage.”

Rochak Kohli opens up on his friend, Ayushmann Khurrana: We work with each other only on the basis of merit [Exclusive]

Rochak Kohli began his musical journey in Bollywood with the superhit song, Pani Da Rang, from Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam’s Vicky Donor. After the success of his very first composition, there has been no looking back for Rochak. He has mesmerised us with a lot of magical melodies, including Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Lae Dooba, Mitti Di Khushboo, Sadi Gali and others. And his latest composition, Bewafai, is no different. The track has been picturised on TikTok star Mr. Faisu and actress Musskaan Sethi, and has been crooned by Sachet Tandon. Days after Bewafai released, we had an exclusive Instagram live chat with Rochak Kohli, where he shared his experience of working on the track, what fascinated him about it, his friendship with Ayushmann Khurrana and more. Watch Bollywoodlife’s exclusive interview with Rochak Kohli here:

Sharing his experience of working on Bewafai, the musician told us, “Any song which has the guidance of Mr. Bhushan Kumar is amazing. He himself was involved in this song. So, we did the song and I have also tried to give it a rock kind of look and feel because the song is picturised on young internet stars.” Also Read – Ayushmann Khurrana reveals he had initiated the first kiss with wife Tahira Kashyap — watch video

He further mentioned about the amazing melody of Bewafai, saying, “Whatever songs I’ve worked on, there’s a common factor, which is melody. The melody of this song (which was made in the 1970s) is still intact. These were the songs that were gems back in the day. And when time passed by, nobody tried to recreate them, sing them or perform them at live shows. We should definitely bring back these forgotten melodies.”

Other than this, Rochak shed light on his friendship with Ayushmann Khurrana. “The best thing that we both do is keep work outside of our friendship. We work with each other only on the basis of merit. That’s how our friendship has been since our school days.”

On being asked if he would love to collaborate with him again, the composer added, “Whenever we meet, we do jam and if we like a song, we plan it’s release. It’s been a long time since we met and we don’t know when we will meet next. Also, he’s been pretty busy with his upcoming films. Let’s see, I really hope we do it soon.”
