Throwback to when Irrfan Khan refused to work with Kangana Ranaut, and she took it as a compliment for THIS reason

Late Irrfan Khan, who gave us memorable performances in films like Talvar, Paan Singh Tomar, Hindi Medium and others, worked with Kangana Ranaut in Anurag Basu‘s Life In A Metro, though the duo didn’t shared the screen space. While our wish of watching them together on the silver screen, left unfulfilled, the Fashion actress once revealed that Irrfan had refused to work with her. Recalling that incident, Kangana told Indian Express, “I told him we must start that film. He is like – ‘Yeah but ek mayaan me do talware kaise rahengi’. With this proverb, he politely rejected the film. Also Read – Super Dance Chapter 4: From Shwetha-Pratiti to Akash-Aneesh – 5 best performances from the grand premiere week

Kangana added, “I thought that was a compliment. I would love to have someone like Irrfan sir work with me. Someone who will give a tough competition. I am floored and flattered by it.” Also Read – Super Dancer Chapter 4: Judges Shilpa Shetty and Geeta Kapur find their ‘chand’ in THIS contestant; weep profusely after his performance

Sharing this news, the makers wrote, “As a team, we have sacrificed a lot in making this film and thank every member of the cast and crew who supported us in this challenging but remarkable journey. Since the film has been made in multiple languages, we would like to release it in all languages on the same day. But with an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, subsequent precautions and lockdowns, even though our film is ready for release on 23rd April, we want to extend all the support towards the government rules and regulations and have decided to postpone release of Thalaivi. Though we are deferring the release date, we are confident that we will receive as much love from you all then as well. Stay safe and looking forward to everyone’s support.” The film is directed by AL Vijay and also stars Arvind Swami in a key role. Irrfan Khan’s son, Babil, provides a tour of the late actor’s beach-side home — view post

We lost a lot of gems in the recent past. On 29th April 2020, Irrfan Khan lost his battle with cancer and his untimely demise shocked everyone across the globe. It was the saddest moment for every Irrfan fan and the audience who loved his work and the human being that he was. It feels awkward to talk about him in the past tense and come to terms with his passing is still very much difficult, even after three months. His legacy lives through his films and his family. Recently, Irrfan’s son, Babil shared pictures from Irrfan’s beach-side home in the country. It was a mini-tour of his small cozy area where he worked hard and studied his films, characters and scripts. Babil Khan shared the pictures of his father’s old room and wrote a heartfelt post. “This is my father’s old room near the beach before we shifted to the city. This is where he did most of his work. Studying acting now, I think of one of the ideas that he used to implement; that the craft has immense emotional similarities to playing around as a child. At age 9, when you hold that cricket bat inside the walls of your room, you can feel a stadium roar and see a bowler rushing to knock your head off. When I held that nerf gun in my hands, my father’s empty room always echoed in the silence of Madh Island, but in that moment I was John Wick surrounded by bad guys with machine guns, gunshots everywhere, and you can hear them, you know? I was a woman once, after watching chak de India and I’d get excited dribbling around imaginary defenders and then really shoot that solid ball with my hockey stick and I’d break something. Oh I’d always break something, ma would get so pissed. I think you’ve got to find the child in you and keep it alive, no matter how old you get,” he captioned the post. Irrfan Khan’s son Babil SLAMS Bollywood, says, ‘My father was defeated at the box office by hunks with six pack abs’

Late actor Irrfan Khan’s son Babil has taken a dig at Bollywood’s “blatant sexism and same-old conventional representations of patriarchy”. Babil shared that Irrfan had once told him that Bollywood is seldom respected in world cinema. Babil spoke his mind in an Instagram post on Wednesday afternoon. He wrote: “You know one of the most important things my father taught me as a student of cinema? Before I went to film school, he warned me that I’ll have to prove my self as Bollywood is seldom respected in world cinema and at these moments I must inform about the indian cinema that’s beyond our controlled Bollywood.” Sharing how his father’s warning came true, Babil wrote: “Unfortunately, it did happen. Bollywood was not respected, no awareness of 60’s – 90’s Indian cinema or credibility of opinion. There was literally one single lecture in the world cinema segment about Indian cinema called ‘Bollywood and Beyond’, that too gone through in a class full of chuckles. it was tough to even get a sensible conversation about the real Indian cinema of Satyajit Ray and K. Asif going.” Also Read – Actress Tillotama Shome gets the weirdest marriage proposal; guy offers to take virginity and brain test

Taking a dig at the taste of the Indian audience which “refuses to evolve” and the box-office dependent Bollywood cinema, he further shared: “You know why that is? Because we, as the Indian audience, refused to evolve.” “My father gave his life trying to elevate the art of acting in the adverse conditions of noughties Bollywood and alas, for almost all of his journey, was defeated in the box office by hunks with six pack abs delivering theatrical one-liners and defying the laws of physics and reality, photoshopped item songs, just blatant sexism and same-old conventional representations of patriarchy (and you must understand, to be defeated at the box office means that majority of the investment in Bollywood would be going to the winners, engulfing us in a vicious circle).” “Because we as an audience wanted that, we enjoyed it, all we sought was entertainment and safety of thought, so afraid to have our delicate illusion of reality shattered, so unaccepting of any shift in perception. All effort to explore the potential of cinema and its implications on humanity and existentialism was at best kept by the sidelines.” Babil feels the much-needed change has just started to happen and it should be encouraged. A new youth, searching for a new meaning. We must stand our ground, not let this thirst for a deeper meaning be repressed again. A strange feeling beset when Kalki was trolled for looking like a boy when she cut her hair short, that is pure abolishment of potential. (Although I resent that Sushant’s demise has now become a fluster of political debates, but if a positive change is manifesting, in the way of the Taoist, we embrace it.)

A strange feeling beset when Kalki (Koechlin) was trolled for looking like a boy when she cut her hair short, that is pure abolishment of potential.” “(Although I resent that Sushant’s demise has now become a fluster of political debates, but if a positive change is manifesting, in the way of the Taoist, we embrace it),” he concluded. Sushant Singh Rajput suicide: Irrfan Khan’s son Babil urges people to ‘stop investigating the reason’ as the nepotism debate rages on

The past few days have been the darkest for Bollywood. We have lost some luminous talents like Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput. While the first two were suffering from cancer, the shocking suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput left the nation in disbelief. The young actor was a self-made star with good projects in his kitty. Besides films, he was also foraying into various start-ups dealing with science and innovations. What made the young man suddenly take such a step is beyond everyone comprehension. Well, reports say that he was suffering from clinical depression since six months or so. This was confirmed by his sister and close friends. Numerous conspiracy theories around his death are floating on social media. Many are alleging that there is more than what meets the eye. Everyone seems to be investigating the circumstances. Irrfan Khan’s son Babil in a long post urged fans to stop this. He wrote, “I urge you to not blame someone or something for this incredibly unfortunate happening, I urge you to accept that life is filled with leg spin deliveries bouncing off spin with no apparent explanation or understanding provided, I urge you to stop investigating the reason because it only brings more despair to the people intimately suffering the loss. Instead we must celebrate the evolution of these sincere men and let their wisdom manifest in our own journeys in some way, hoping to keep little lanterns of their memories ignited in our sensitive souls.” Also Read – Sushant Singh Rajput suicide: There must be a high-level investigation into the circumstances, says, Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari

It’s still not settling in. We’ve lost two very sincere people and sincerity is key in our spiritual journey, thus it comes as an unbelievable shock, the way Sushant has departed. Naturally, we have descended into pinning the blame on something or someone, which in itself is the most futile act because to find peace by playing the blame game is not honest peace, it is a fleeting reflection of a lie. I urge you to not blame someone or something for this incredibly unfortunate happening, I urge you to accept that life is filled with leg spin deliveries bouncing off spin with no apparent explanation or understanding provided, I urge you to stop investigating the reason because it only brings more despair to the people intimately suffering the loss. Instead we must celebrate the evolution of these sincere men and let their wisdom manifest in our own journeys in some way, hoping to keep little lanterns of their memories ignited in our sensitive souls. I’m saying stand up for what’s right without using Sushant’s demise as an excuse, if you want to rebel against nepotism, do so, but don’t use Sushant as a reason to why you’re doing so now. Stand up for what’s right regardless anyway in any case. (And it would and should be my fight to prove to the audience that I deserve a shot.)

Reading this post, Anshuman Malhotra commented, “Iv learnt from both that we are just not actors who are here to entertain but we are artists who have a great responsibility towards the society too. And keeping this in mind and soul I will always keep them alive in me ❤️ Sending you love babil.” However, some people were quick to point out the other side of the story. A fan wrote, “I truly respect Irfan sir I was in shock on his demise but bigger shock on Sushant it wasnt natural not he is weak minded a guy with such cannot be ..we just want truth to prevail.” Also Read – Sushant Singh Rajput suicide: Mahabharat actress Roopa Ganguly demands CBI probe in the case

RIP Irrfan Khan: Paan Singh Tomar actor Imraan Hasnee recalls taking special permission to be present at the late actor’s last rites

“As the lockdown is on, I had to take special permission to go there. I was so numb at that point of time but I had to go rushing to see my friend who stood by me for 20 years. There was a time limit and only a select number of people could gather, so we were hurrying up everything. We were just following the rules,” Imraan recalled about the cremation. The two worked together in Bollywood films like “Paan Singh Tomar” and international projects as “A Mighty Heart” and “Slumdog Millionaire” among others. Imraan terms Khan’s acting as a spiritual expression. In “Paan Singh Tomar”, Irrfan played the title character while Imraan played his elder brother Matadeen Tomar. “We shot that film under very tough weather condition in Chambal and Roorkee, and in the evening we usually would get tired. When we had the time we would go to a nearby club and play billiards. There is a village in Roorkee where villagers prepare fresh gur (molasses) and we used to go to have freshly made hot gur. That used to be delicious! He went through so much training to get the right body and body language, but you never heard him extensively talking about how he built his body that you otherwise get to see among others,” Imraan told IANS.

Despite winning several honours including the National Award and Padma Shri, Imraan recalls Irrfan was never “loud” in celebration or showing off.

“He was not one of those people who would indulge in celebration for an award, like ‘tamasha’. He would find happiness in small things, like flying kites or playing cricket. He used to feel happy to be surrounded by his family and close friends,” said Imraan.

Asked how he would like to remember Irrfan, Imraan said: “(I would like to remember Irrfan) Through his performances. His performance was an extension of spiritual expression. That is why there was a connection between the art and the artist. That is why he touched so many lives through his on-screen presence.”

RIP Irrfan Khan: Doordarshan starts airing the talented actor’s show Shrikant in the afternoon slot

Irrfan Khan is no more. One of India’s best acting talents left us a couple of days back. The actor was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour a couple of years ago. He underwent treatment in London and returned home last year. Irrfan had finished work on Angrezi Medium and was in talks for a few projects. However, he fell ill due to a colon infection and that caused complications resulting in his death. Rishi Kapoor and his demise has sent Bollywood into mourning. Fans, friends and colleagues are coming up with rich tributes for these actors. Here is a piece of news that fans of Irrfan Khan need to know. Doordarshan has decided to telecast the show Shrikant once again. It was based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel. We can see a young Irrfan on the show that also starred Farooque Shaikh. Irrfan was born in Jaipur and studied acting at the National School of Drama. His family was against the idea. It was TV that first made him a known name. People who grew up in the 90’s remember him from shows like Chandrakanta, Mano Ya Na Mano, Darr, Chanakya and Banegi Apni Baat. Irrfan had made his debut with Doordarshan in 1986 with Katha Sagar. The show, Shrikant also had screen adaptations of short stories by writers like Guy De Maupassant, Tolstoy, O Henry and Anton Chekov. His colleagues from Hollywood have also paid rich tributes to Irrfan. In an emotional note, his wife said, “How can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It’s a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve. Yet I want to try to fill in the things that people don’t already know.” She also thanked the doctors who were with them in these two years. The note read, “We met some amazing people in this journey and the list is endless, but there are some whom I have to mention, our oncologist Dr. Nitesh Rohtogi (Max hospital Saket) who held our hand in the beginning, Dr. Dan Krell (UK), Dr. Shidravi (UK), my heartbeat and my lantern in the dark Dr. Sevanti Limaye (Kokilaben hospital).” Also Read – Trending Entertainment News Today – Rishi Kapoor passes away at 67, Irrfan Khan remembered by international artistes

RIP Irrfan Khan: ‘This is not a loss, it is a gain,’ the actor’s family issues a gut-wrenching statement on his demise

he was truly and an unconventional hero who narrated stories and portrayed characters that stayed with us long after. We are talking about Irrfan Khan;s sudden demise on Wednesday. The actor was taken to Kokilaben Ambani hospital and an official spokesperson had revealed that he has been suffering from colon infection. Irrfan had been battling with neuroendocrine cancer for the last two and a half years but succumbed to it on Wednesday morning. Days after his demise, his wife, Sutapa and her sons, Babil and Ayan have issued a statement on his demise. “How can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It’s a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve. Yet I want to try to fill in the things that people don’t already know,” Irrfan‘s beloved wife began her statement. She went on to narrate the incidents of the last few days in brief saying, “It’s unbelievable for us but I would put it in Irrfan’s words, “it’s magical” whether he is there or not there, and that’s what he loved, he never loved one dimensional reality. The only thing I have a grudge against him is; he has spoiled me for life. His strive for perfection doesn’t let me settle for ordinary in any thing. There was a rhythm which he always saw in everything, even in cacophony and chaos, so I have learnt to sing and dance to the music of that rhythm, even with my tone-deaf voice and two left feet. Funnily, our life was a masterclass in acting, so when the dramatic entry of the “uninvited guests” happened, I had by then learnt, to see a harmony in the cacophony. The doctor’s reports were like scripts which I wanted to perfect, so I never miss any detail that he sought for in his performance. We met some amazing people in this journey and the list is endless, but there are some whom I have to mention, our oncologist Dr. Nitesh Rohtogi (Max hospital Saket) who held our hand in the beginning, Dr. Dan Krell (UK), Dr. Shidravi (UK), my heartbeat and my lantern in the dark Dr. Sevanti Limaye (Kokilaben hospital). It’s difficult to explain what a wondrous, beautiful, overwhelming, painful and exciting this journey has been. I find this 2 and 1/2 years to have been an interlude, which had it’s own beginning, middle and culmination with Irrfan helming the role of the orchestra conductor, separate from the 35 years of our companionship, ours was not a marriage, it was a union.” Also Read – #SuspendKRK: Fans demand action against Kamaal R Khan’s Twitter account after his insensitive statements against Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor

She further asked her sons to share the life lessons given by their father. “I see my little family, in a boat, with both my sons Babil and Ayaan, paddling it forward, with Irrfan guiding them “wahan nahi, yahan se modo” but since life is not cinema and there are no retakes, I sincerely wish my children sail this boat safely with their father’s guidance in mind and rockabye through the storm. I asked my children, if possible, they could sum up a lesson taught by their father that has been important to the:

Babil: ’Learn to surrender to the dance of uncertainty and trust your faith in the universe”
Ayaan: “Learn to control your mind and to not let it control you.””

“Tears will flow as we will plant a raat ki rani tree, his favourite, to the place where you have put him to rest after a victorious journey. It takes time but it will bloom and the fragrance will spread and touch all the souls whom I won’t call them fans but family for years to come.” She concluded the statement.

Shreyas Talpade on his ‘neighbour’ Irrfan Khan’s demise: This was not the time for him to go

Irrfan Khan was a kind and happy soul whose “impeccable smile” left people happy, says his neighbour and actor Shreyas Talpade. Also Read – International artistes mourn Irrfan Khan’s death

Be it in the lift or lobby of their building in Oshiwara in Mumbai, Shreyas and Irrfan would bump into each other sometimes. Also Read – As Bollywood struggles with the loss of Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor, their pic from D-Day goes viral

“We have been neighbours for the past couple of years. He moved into the building a little before me. I think six or eight months before we moved in,” Shreyas told IANS. Also Read – RIP Irrfan Khan: Freida Pinto’s emotional post for her Slumdog Millionaire costar will leave you teary-eyed

When it came to talking about issues related to the building, Irrfan would be “one little child unaware of what was happening around him”.

“He used to say ‘Arey ye kya hora hai, tum baat karlo. Mujhse nahi hoga’ (what’s happening? You go and talk, I can’t do it). So I was pleasantly surprised to see honesty and sincerity intact in him,” said Shreyas.

He found Irrfan Khan a very caring guy.

“Since the time we moved in, he and Sutapa di would send us vegetables and fruits from their farm. Even as recently as last week, when we told Sutapa didi that we were not finding mangoes due to the lockdown, the same evening Sutapa di and Irrfan bhai sent us a dozen of mangoes,” he said.

Due to their hectic schedules, the two couldn’t frequently meet but whenever they did Shreyas would feel happy.

“There are very few actors who have the energy that can influence and attract you. Irrfan bhai was one of those. You would feel happy after meeting him. You can’t miss that impeccable smile of his. Whenever he would meet someone, he would first greet with a smile then ask ‘Kaha kaise ho, dikhai nai diye (how are you?)

“He was a kind and happy soul. Now I feel we should have spent a little more time together,” said Shreyas.

“He went too soon, this was not the time for him to go. He was supposed to do a lot more films. I was supposed to learn a lot from him,” he added.

The two actors never got a chance to work together.

“There was a time when we were supposed to host an awards night together but he wasn’t in the country. He couldn’t return on time. This will be one unfulfilled wish…I could not work with him,” said Shreyas.

Recalling one of his last conversations with Irrfan, Shreyas said: “He had come back from London after his treatment then he had started shooting for ‘Angrezi Medium’. That was the time I met him. It was brief. I asked him ‘are you okay? ‘ He said ‘God has been kind. I am recovering. It’s been a long fight’.”

It surely was as Irrfan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018. He had shown signs of recovery.

But earlier this week, he got admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital with a colon infection. Unfortunately, he lost the battle early on Wednesday.

At different ages we can work differently to achieve great results. If you’re asking if you need to spend a lot of money on supplements to achieve this, the answer is no. I have not taken any kind of supplements in this process. My trainer Marc and I have been talking about doing this kind of rebuild of my body for as many years as we have been together, which is 6 years! Time was always a stumbling block, or filming requirements, endorsements, social obligations or family time. Every year we would say we – this year for sure. Now in these very difficult circumstances, time is something we all seem to have a great deal of, so why not use this time to do the things you always promised yourself you would do. Strengthen your body, build muscle, build immunity, build flexibility. Respect your body. We might never have this much time available to us ever again. ? @marcyogimead
