Vikas Khanna wins hearts as he organizes the ‘World’s Largest Eid Feast’ in Mumbai

Yesterday, Eid-Al-Fitr was celebrated all over India. It was a rather subdued celebration all over the world as everyone is struggling with the coronavirus pandemic. The economic loss of the pandemic has been a huge one as well. Our Bollywood celebs have risen to the occasion helping the government in every possible manner. Michelin-Star chef Vikas Khanna has also earned immense love and respect of the people with his initiative of making dry rations accessible to the economically weaker sections all over India. He also initiated the ‘World’s Largest Eid Feast’ in Mumbai to feed nearly 1.75 lakh people on this festive occasion. Vikas Khanna with the help of corporates, NGOs and NDRF has successfully distributed 4 million of dry rations to people all over India. We have seen pictures from far off places in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. He has been posting stuff regularly on Twitter to keep people updated on the developments. The initiative started from Friday with food being collected from the Haji Ali Dargah in Mahalaxmi. It was then distributed around the city including in the red zone of Dharavi. The NDRF assisted in the mission. The city of Mumbai has emerged as one of the COVID hotspots of the world. Areas like Dharavi, Parel, Santacruz (E) have a very high number of cases. The Eid feast has fed lakhs of people so far. Vikas Khanna who is based in the New York has got immense support from people in his food distribution initiative. He has said that he is inspired by Jose Andres. He has started the project, Fuel Stations to Food Stations. So far, he has delivered ration to nearly 80 cities. They will soon be operational in highways where migrants are walking to get back home to their villages.
