Rochak Kohli opens up on his friend, Ayushmann Khurrana: We work with each other only on the basis of merit [Exclusive]

Rochak Kohli began his musical journey in Bollywood with the superhit song, Pani Da Rang, from Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam’s Vicky Donor. After the success of his very first composition, there has been no looking back for Rochak. He has mesmerised us with a lot of magical melodies, including Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Lae Dooba, Mitti Di Khushboo, Sadi Gali and others. And his latest composition, Bewafai, is no different. The track has been picturised on TikTok star Mr. Faisu and actress Musskaan Sethi, and has been crooned by Sachet Tandon. Sharing his experience of working on Bewafai, the musician told us, “Any song which has the guidance of Mr. Bhushan Kumar is amazing. He himself was involved in this song. So, we did the song and I have also tried to give it a rock kind of look and feel because the song is picturised on young internet stars.” Also Read – Ayushmann Khurrana reveals he had initiated the first kiss with wife Tahira Kashyap — watch video

He further mentioned about the amazing melody of Bewafai, saying, “Whatever songs I’ve worked on, there’s a common factor, which is melody. The melody of this song (which was made in the 1970s) is still intact. These were the songs that were gems back in the day. And when time passed by, nobody tried to recreate them, sing them or perform them at live shows. We should definitely bring back these forgotten melodies.”

Other than this, Rochak shed light on his friendship with Ayushmann Khurrana. “The best thing that we both do is keep work outside of our friendship. We work with each other only on the basis of merit. That’s how our friendship has been since our school days.”

On being asked if he would love to collaborate with him again, the composer added, “Whenever we meet, we do jam and if we like a song, we plan it’s release. It’s been a long time since we met and we don’t know when we will meet next. Also, he’s been pretty busy with his upcoming films. Let’s see, I really hope we do it soon.”
