Mother’s Day 2020: Urvashi Rautela, Sanya Malhotra, Himani Shivpuri, Shirley Setia, Sneha Wagh share their best memories [Exclusive]

There’s no question that no one in this entire world can love us as much as our mothers have. If the whole world turns against us, our mother will take on the world for us. So, while we’re flooding social media today with an outpouring of love for our mommy dears (which should frankly happen everyday), some of our famous Bollywood and TV actresses have exclusively revealed to BollywoodLife how their mothers have shaped their lives both personally and professionally, and how instrumental they’ve been in making them the person they are today. When talking about the turning point of life and how her mother supported her, Urvashi said, “When I won two international pageants back to back, ‘Miss Tourism World, China’ and ‘Miss Asian SuperModel’ in South Korea, she was always there throughout the journey. I still remember, when I had a hard time to figure out what I really want to do with my life, my career…what are my goals, dreams and am I on the right path or not, she was always there to motivate and support me, and I really feel lucky to have her. She is a complete, perfect woman. In fact, she is a superwoman, wonder woman; she isan all-rounder in terms of everything, be it cooking, dancing, singing, or business, beauty or makeup. All the DIY and desi-homemade skin remedies that I’ve learned have come from her. She is the true definition of a perfect Indian woman, and everything I’ve learned about life is from her. I feel really happy and blessed to be Meera Rautela’s daughter.”Sanya Malhotra

Elaborating on how her mother still tells her to seek out different career options after having become a big-name actress, Sanya said, “My mother used to call me everyday after moving to Mumbai and would tell me to take up this course or join some distance-learning course and to please do my Masters, but, yeah…I didn’t do it. And those suggestions haven’t stopped till now. Even under quarantine, she told me to join an online class and complete my studies. Regardless what happens, whatever you become, what you may do, your parents won’t stop suggesting things to you.”

Himani Shivpuri

Veteran actress Himani Shivpuri, currently seen in the TV show, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, as Katori Amma, strolled down memory lane with her mother, and said, “My mother just loved to travel and meet new people. If she was here among us today, I am certain she would have given all the travel bloggers a run for their money. We used to visit so many countries together when I travelled for work. I sometimes reminisce the time we spent at Benaras. It is my fondest memory of her. I was in the city for a theatre performance, and my mother accompanied me. She wanted to see the beautiful city and the Ganges. A day prior to the play, we went out exploring the city, took part in Ganga Aarti, lit diyas, and oh…it was so peaceful! The next day, she left us as she journeyed to the almighty. I will always remember her as a human being so full of life, with an extraordinary panache. Happy Mother’s Day, Maa.”

Shirley Setia

Opening on how her mother still makes sacrifices for her and is an integral part of her career to this day, Shirley elaborated, “I don’t think I could choose one memory with my mother as there have been so many moments growing up. It’s an ongoing thing, and every time she’s around me, we always have a great time and share many amazing moments together. I can;t choose any one; just, whenever she’s around, it’s the best moment ever. My mom has made a lot of sacrifices for both my brother and I. Even now, she’s doing the same thing being extremely selfless. She was supposed to get back to new Zealand in March; her normal life is back home — my dad is there, my brother is also there, but she stayed back just for me as she didn’t want me to be alone during this pandemic. I feel that moms are continuously making sacrifices in their daily lives for all of us and that’s what makes them really special. My mother has also been been a very big part of my career as from the very beginning she’s supported me immensely to follow my heart and do what make me happy and that’s always been the case. Even today, I share all my work-life aspects with her; she handles my work, too. So, she’s a very important and integral part of my career.”

Sneha Wagh

Passionately expressing her love for her mother, Sneha Wagh, who plays Mata Anjani in the TV show, Kahat Hanuman Jai Shri Ram, said, “She is my only constant, who has tirelessly supported me throughout my life and career choices. Today, whatever I have been able to achieve it is with due credit to my mother. Right from pestering me to join classical dancing to accompanying me on my shoots since my young days, she knew what my qualities were and she gave her all to me. She let her dreams stand behind the stage for she wanted the curtains to rise for me. There is no force stronger than that of a mother in this universe, and there will never be. Every day is her day, every day is Mother’s Day!”

A Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. There’s truly no one like y’all.
