Tahira Kashyap on directing husband Ayushmann Khurrana: ‘I need to earn a position where I deserve to direct him’

Just like Ayushmann Khurrana, wifey Tahira Kashyap has impressed us with her talent through her creativity. Her short film, Toffee and Neena Gupta starrer Pinni, which was part of Zindagi InShort received appreciation from the audience. While a feature film is on the cards for the writer-director, Tahira might not work with husband Ayushmann Khurrana as she feels he is quite senior and she needs to earn a position to direct his husband and versatile actor. She is also quite unsure about their dynamics on the sets of the film. Also Read – Ponmagal Vandhal: Jyothika starrer leaked online by Tamilrockers prior to OTT release

Talking about directing a feature film, Tahira told TOI, “I am taking baby steps. I am slowly and gradually moving towards that direction. My films, ‘Toffee’ and ‘Pinni’ received a lot of love. I have written a couple of feature films. The intention is to make a feature film. Because of this lockdown, now there is a pause button on everybody’s lives. I don’t know what the future holds but the dreams and aspirations are certainly there.” Also Read – Jyothika is all praises for Taapsee Pannu and Ayushmann Khurrana for THIS reason

When asked whether she would take husband Ayushmann Khurrana on board for that film, she replied, “I would really love to work with him from the perspective of directing a wonderful artist. He has grown tremendously as an artist. But at the same time, he is senior to me when it comes to working. So I need to earn myself a couple of films or a position where I deserve to direct him.”

Talking about Ayushmann Khurrana, the actor will be next seen in Gulabo Sitabo alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Directed by Madras Cafe and Piku helmer Shoojit Sircar, the film will stream from June 12 on Amazon Prime Video.

That was the time when technology hadn’t advanced so much and nobody was aware of the concepts of video calls and selfies. Those celebrations felt so real because we wouldn’t be busy clicking photos for social media,” he shares.
