Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma once again pitch in to help those affected by COVID-19 – here’s how much they’ll be donating

India is currently battling the second wave of COVID-19 and people have been coming forward to do their bit to tackle the crisis. Indian Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood superstar Anushka Sharma are aiming to raise Rs. 7 crore for COVID relief in India. They are kickstarting a fundraising campaign #InThisTogether on the crowd-funding platform Ketto and are putting Rs. 2 crore for this initiative. #InThisTogether will run for seven days on Ketto and the proceeds raised will be directed to ACT Grants who is the implementation partner for this campaign. ACT has been extensively working towards providing oxygen, medical manpower, vaccination awareness and telemedicine facilities all through the pandemic and the amount raised by Anushka and Virat will aid their exemplary work. Anushka Sharma says, “India is going through an extremely difficult time and the second wave of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic has pushed our country to a state of crisis. It is time for all of us to come together and do our bit for our fellow countrymen who are in serious need for support. Virat and I have been hugely pained looking at the inexplicable suffering that people are going through and we hope that this fund will aid in our fight against the virus that we are all helplessly witnessing. We are praying for everyone’s safety. We hope that you join us in our prayers to save as many lives as possible because we are all in this together.” Also Read – From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Anushka Sharma, celebs who have gone under the knife for ‘enhancing’ their looks

Virat says, “We are going through an unprecedented time in the history of our country and our nation needs all of us to unite and save as many people as possible. Anushka and I have been shocked to see the human suffering since last year. We have been working towards helping as many people as possible all through the pandemic and now, India wants our support more than ever. We are starting this fundraiser with the confidence that we will be able to raise substantial funds to aid those in dire need. We are confident that people will come forward to support fellow countrymen in crisis. We are in this together and we shall overcome this.”

Sadly, some people have found a negative side in this, too, and trolled them for nothing other than just being celebs and because of the mindset where many people still feel entitled to dictate how celebs should spend their own hard-earned money. Check out some of the vitriolic tweets, with many of the users also being clueless that Virushka had already donated Rs. 2 crore…

Donate what you make from ONE ad, or ONE match – it’s still way more than what 1000 people like me can give. Maybe there is some good intent meh, but this elaborate PR stunt involving capitalizing on fans who will blindly give whatever they have BECAUSE of the star makes no sense

— Shasvathi Siva (@shasvathi) May 7, 2021

What annoys is call after IPL got suspended, till then they were in bubble, not a single tweet/appeal.

— Ajaz Lone (@ajazlone) May 7, 2021

PR and nothing else…

— Sanjay Kaw (@SanjayKaw5) May 7, 2021

Thankfully, noted sports journalist Boria Majumdar gave the trolls a much-needed reality check…

Virat and Anushka have consistently helped. Many cricketers have. Other sports stars have done their part as well. Now the trend is unless you disclose on social media you will be trolled. This is nonsense.
And to see senior journalists question contributions was shocking.

Talking to Vogue magazine, Anushka had earlier said, “There are so many similarities in the way we are as people and the way we approach life. So I do think that will work for us. I’ve been thinking about it before I even became a parent. Conditioning is the most important role in how we see the world. I come from a progressive background, so that will always be a part of our home. Love is the underlying factor in our home, and what’s important to us is that our child be respectful of people. You have to create that value structure. We don’t want to raise brats.” Also Read – Have Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma named their newborn angel, Anvi? Here’s what we know and what the name means

She had also revealed that she and Virat will keep their baby away from social media as she asserted, “We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through.

Anushka Sharma opens up on visiting Virat Kohli on his cricket tours, ‘It’s to squeeze in that one meal together; it’s precious time for us’

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are one of the power couples among Indian celebrities, adored by fans the world over for their beautiful romance and the love and affection they constantly shower on each other. However, it would surprise you to know that the couple rarely managed to spend quality time with each other even after marriage, with the lockdown actually appearing as a blessing in disguise for them. Anushka has revealed that during the first six months of marriage to husband and cricketer Virat, the spent merely 21 days together, so hectic were their lives, which is why she’s so thankful that lockdown had offered them precious time with each other, which they’d never have gotten otherwise. Also Read – From turning barbers to clicking candids, here’s how Bollywood jodis dished out couple goals in times of Coronavirus

Speaking to Vogue in a recent interview, Anushka Sharma disclosed, “People assume when I’m visiting Virat or when he is visiting me that it’s a holiday, but it’s really not. One person is always working. In fact, during the first six months of our marriage, we spent 21 days together. Yes, I actually calculated. So when I visit him overseas, it’s to squeeze in that one meal together. It’s precious time for us.” Also Read – #VirushkaDivorce trends on twitter for no reason at all

Elaborating on how lockdown has afforded them invaluable time together, the actress added, “It’s nice to know that there’s a silver lining in any situation in life. We would have never gotten to spend that much time every day with each other.” Also Read – Paatal Lok controversy: BJP MLA suggests Virat Kohli to divorce Anushka Sharma stating she is not a ‘desh bhakt’

However, she’s also well aware of their privilege to enjoy her time with Virat Kohli during lockdown, and addressed it, too, saying, “Whatever little inconveniences I have had to face in these few months is insignificant compared to what so many others in our country are facing—people are unable to go home, some are struggling with loss of income and home, others are facing starvation even as many more deal with their loved ones being unfortunately struck by this disease. I’ve always been realistic, but now more than ever I am understanding the meaning of life.”

Well…like Anushka said, this lockdown and pandemic situation has at least provided a silver lining for some, and that’s a good thing.

Jaipur man Irrfan had craving to act right from his childhood

Irrfan Khan, the versatile bollywood actor who passed away on Wednesday was born and brought up in Jaipur. Since his childhood, he had a craving for acting. However, due to unavailability of right platform in the pink city in those days, he started engaging himself in street plays. According to him, street plays were very different in those days. “I was asked to act on a filmy scene or a song where I had to mimic the actor. There was no seriousness in the plays in those days.” Meanwhile, as he grew up, he felt a strong penchant to act and hence he went to Ravindra Manch office which is more like the artist junction in Jaipur, and is devoted to training of actors for stage, film and television. Also Read – RIP Irrfan Khan: Uddhav Thackeray, Devendra Fadnavis and other political leaders mourn the actor’s loss

Unaware of the whereabouts, his eagerness took him to a clerk’s office where he humbly requested for acting work. “This clerk laughed and then guided me to meet the director. Following his instructions, I went to the director and thereafter, I was introduced to the world of theatre. Thereafter, I had no looking back,” he had said. Irrfan loved Jaipur from the bottom of his heart. Although he has travelled across the globe, Jaipur remained his favourite destination. “Each and every lane here in this city narrates a royal tale of its own. The rich legacy seen here is hard to be found in any other part of the world. Hence, the majestic and magnanimous Jaipur is yet another enigma, another wonder of the world,” he had said in a meeting with this IANS journalist. Also Read – RIP Irrfan Khan: Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Sunil Chhetri mourn the demise of the Angrezi Medium actor

Irrfan also loved art, culture, history and heritage of India. At the same time, he was disheartened to see the global culture slowly yet steadily replacing the in-depth heritage and cultural soul of India. As an ardent fan of the Indian culture, he said, he is making all efforts on his own to help retain this pristine culture. He became a brand ambassador of Resurgent Rajasthan and started promoting the state to national and international level. Also Read – RIP Irrfan Khan: 7 powerful one-liners of the actor that prove he was the king of dialogue delivery

As he started his career from theatre, he was eager to ensure progress and development of theatre culture in India. He was equally concerned about Indian art and culture and had therefore started an NGO, Sannidhya which aimed at restoring the pristine art and culture of India which he felt was losing its sheen with the changing times. “Changing time is leading to disappearance of age-old heritage of our country which is a big concern for me. I want to revive the ancient roots of Hindustan,” he had said during his visit to Jaipur in 2016.
